Amanda Combs

Amanda Combs is a voice and piano teacher specializing in healthy technique, performance, and contemporary styles.   A native of Hazard, Kentucky, she began her musical career at a young age, performing with her family’s band Family Tradition.  She received her Bachelor of Music in Commercial Voice Performance from Belmont University where she performed with the Belmont Bluegrass Ensemble on campus, around Nashville, and on national television.   Combs also completed her Master of Music in Commercial Voice Performance at Belmont University, where she specialized in contemporary vocal pedagogy and worked with nearly every style of contemporary music.   Her Masters research, Bluegrass Singing:  An Analysis of Four Artists’ Vocal Styles, is now on file at both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the International Bluegrass Music Museum.         

Ms. Combs is also an active performer, songwriter, and arranger.  In 2012, Combs released her debut album “New”, which blends the worlds of Bluegrass Gospel and Inspirational Country.  She has been described as having an “angelic voice” and being “a first class interpreter of songs”.  Currently she performs with Combs Family Tradition.

In addition to her academic and performing work, Ms. Combs has ten years experience teaching independent voice and piano lessons.  Furthermore, her collegiate teaching experiences include music appreciation, applied voice, class voice, and aural skills.
